To be an MBA degree holder can be a coveted one in India and anywhere else in the world. The reason behind this is not only the social status that is associated with it but also the salary and the perks that come along with it.

What does a fresh MBA graduate get in India? There are several different factors that will go on to decide this. If you are lucky enough to graduate from one of the best of B-schools then the salary range to expect even if you are a mediocre student is at the base rate of 6 lakhs. With one year of apprenticeship and training you can easily get yourself a salary packet of about 2.5 lakhs.

The other factor to be taken into consideration is the person and the individual traits that you bring to the table. Employers do look for the right MBA degree and the schools that you attended, but the bottom line is also the kind of personality traits that you possess. If you are an excellent communicator, good team player and have the potentials of a leader, then the companies might be willing to pick you up at a higher salary. If you are able to portray in the most positive of manner the skills and knowledge that you will bring to the table and how that will benefit the organization, you will be able to walk away with a good pay packet. Also, the grades you have been able to secure during the course matters. If you are able to prove your cutting edge and a winning edge over the others in the group then you can get a good range of about 7 to 8 lakhs per year.

There are ten best B-schools in India which are renowned for the students that they produce. If you fall under any one of them such as the IIMs, TISS and XLRI then you will have the world at your feet. If you graduate from any of the other good metropolitan colleges in the cities then an average of 3 to 5 lakhs per annum is what you should expect.

The salary will also vary based on the internship that you have done in the summer and for the projects. There are so many factors that are considered by the employer that luck also needs to be on your side for the final figure to be derived at.
